Les 2 Alpes, France: From Schools To Slopes (bass fishing directory)
No commentsBy Roberto Garabelli
Les 2 Alpes translates in English as The Two Alps; however, the “2″ here refers to the two smaller towns to the north and south, Mont De Lans and Venosc. Les 2 Alpes is popular for two reasons: 1) It is lucky enough to have Europe’s largest glacier, Mont-de-Lans. It is ski-friendly because it provides open spaces for skiers. 2) Les 2 Alpes comes second to Chamonix as France’s oldest ski resorts. Just because it comes as a close second, however, shouldn’t take away from its grandeur.
An underground funicular railway titled The Dome Express opened in the late 1990s. It operates in the winter and summer transporting tourists up to almost 3500 meters. On top, sightseers can click their cameras at panoramic vistas. On clear days-generally mornings are unclouded-Mont Blanc can be seen over 100 km away. In the winter, however, the top can close due to unpredictable winds, snow, blizzards or avalanches. If there’s a line to the top, you can bet the view will be pretty amazing. Jump in queue and in less than an hour you’ll see what all the talk is about.
The 2009 winter ski season will most likely be the same as the 2008. The skiing started on January 12th and ended on April the 27th. This makes it possible for skiers and borders alike to enjoy the sierra. For both skiers and boarders, there are south-facing slopes ensuring fresh powder and enjoyable weather during all the skiable months.
Les 2 Alpes has accepted snow boarders without prejudice for many years. That’s why you’ll find reserved spaces, terrain, a boarder cross, half pipe, park and plenty of snow cannons. The boarder cross course, however, is not groomed throughout the day. This lack of maintenance gives way to several daily changes in the land. Plus, you’ll be able to jib on the half-pipe, ride the Slide Zone, and thunder down a 185-meter drop with canyons, waterfalls and ledges.
Recently, the Les 2 Alpes ski pass gives you full access to La Grave on any day of the week. Specifically, if you buy a six-day ski pass, you’ll have thousands of hectares of off-piste pitches. To get here, you’ll have to take the uppermost lift at the Dome de la Lauze. Only try this if you are an expert or, at minimum, with a local guide.
Les 2 Alpes resort starts at 1650 meters. The highest lift takes you to 3568 meters with the longest run lasting an impressive 12 km. Depending on the day, there are 200-220 km of pistes and around 70 different runs. You can literally break up a seven-day week and ride 10 different pistes each day. And, with an uphill capacity of over 65,000 skiers and boarders per hour, Les 2 Alpes gets busy during the high season. This becomes possible with the near 60 total lifts. Be sure to book your Les 2 Alpes hotel way in advance.
The 70 different runs at Les 2 Alpes are surprisingly diverse. At last report, there were 17 beginner, 31 intermediate and 22 advanced runs with 78 snow cannons (over 200 total). This enables you to take the kids out for the morning. Then, ride with friends on the intermediate course after lunch. And later, test your skills on an advanced run or two before dinner. Your day will be long, but almost nowhere else in France will you find as equally a distinct ski resort.
If you’re into an apres ski venue to die for, you’ll find it at Les 2 Alpes. There are plenty of mountain restaurants and more in town. For those with no time for a meal, you’ll find plenty of snacks at the creperie, pizzeria, cafes, bars, gastronimique and raclette (melted cheese plate). If you’ll need a shop or two, you’ll find a couple hundred to choose from throughout the area. If you want to tire yourself out more, then try the outdoor or indoor swimming pools, outdoor ice rink, hammam, paragliding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, climbing (both ice and wall), squash, tubing, night skiing, tobogganing and plenty more.
O.B.S. company is currently working on France skiing project, Les 2 Alpes ski resort. It represents Les 2 Alpes hotels and possible winter vacation activities in Les 2 Alpes, France.
The Best Sport Tickets Are Available Online
By Rick Hendershot
Do you want tickets to your favorite show or sporting event and don’t have a clue how best to go about it? You may be surprised to learn that the easiest and best way to purchase tickets for concerts, or any type of sporting event is to search the net and buy online. There are simply hundreds of different ticket exchange and retail sites that offer some of the best sport entertainment tickets and the best concert tickets available to anyone.
A few years ago I had a good friend who traveled to see the Super bowl. Even though it was supposedly sold out, he was able to get the best football tickets and the best deal by searching online and purchasing through a ticket exchange. What if he had decided to purchase them at a retail price or from a scalper? Most likely he would have paid a lot more and probably wouldn’t have gotten such great seats.
Buying tickets to major entertainment events by going online isn’t all that revolutionary. For many years people have been selling some of the best sport tickets through online auction sites to the highest bidder. Even in these competitive situations, most bidders found that they got the best deal on these tickets by purchasing them at auction than they would have paying face value for the tickets.
Since then the online ticket industry has been grown by leaps and bounds. Ticket clearinghouses have sprouted up by the dozen, and are only a simple internet search away. Here you’ll discover that you can purchase the best seats to your favorite show or event. Everything from Broadway productions, concerts featuring the biggest and most famous performers and bands in the world, to professional football, hockey, soccer, and basketball games can be found in the offerings of these clearinghouses. If car racing or golf is your thing, you’ll find it here as well. OF course, best of all, is the fact that you’ll be spending less than the face value of the ticket. What could be better?
However, a word of caution. Not all ticket retailers are created equal. As in any type of business, online or otherwise, there are some less than reputable characters running some false promotions on ticket sales. That’s why it’s so important to choose a nationally recognized vendor for your online ticket purchase, and to ensure the safety of your transaction. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
When you buy your entertainment tickets online, you give youself the ability to enjoy the very best tickets that you will ever find, for every concert and sporting event that you desire. Football, hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis, musicals, concerts and much, much more will await you. Your seats will be fantastic, and the price you pay online is a value that simply cannot be beaten. If you compare standing in line at the box office to simply browsing the internet and pressing a few buttoms, it’s a no brainer. Remember, for the best seat in the house, at the lowest possible price, reserve your ticket online.

You Can Overcome Your Fear Of Water And Actually Enjoy It
By Rachel Yoshida
Doing things on the water is one of the most enjoyable pass times that some people love to partake in during the summer. It does not really matter what part of the country that you live in there is always some body of water to get into whether it is a swimming pool, lake river, or just a creek. There are so many different activities to be enjoyed. Swimming, fishing, skiing, or boating is done all over the place.
What can make water activities not so much fun for some people is when they have a fear of the water. It could be because they had a bad experience with water at some point in their life or it is just in their head. For some people, just the thought of having their head under the surface of water can be terrifying. There is almost nothing that would make them get out of the shallow end of a swimming pool.
Although everyone should be wary and careful when in the water, there is a difference in this and an unnatural fear. An unnatural fear of the water is what can some people to drown even more easily if they fall in over their head on accident because so many times they just panic, become strangled, and can not save them selves. Falling in on accident or being put in an unavoidable situation like a flood is why people should try to come to terms with and overcome their fear.
Usually a fear this traumatizing can not be handled alone. More than likely it will be necessary to have a good swimming instructor and in severe cases possibly some therapy as well. Normally a person can overcome many different phobias if they are at least willing to try and in the end they will often be able to laugh at them selves for ever being so afraid in the first place. Some people even try hypnosis to get over certain fears. Of course, this is not true for everyone because some people have a phobia of water or some other thing they are terrified of and can never get over it.
Once you have mastered your fear of water, you will be able to truly enjoy all of the water activities that everyone else does all of the time without that unnatural fear that has plagued you. Who knows, you might become an expert swimmer or skier. Even scuba diving might not be beyond your capabilities once you have overcome your fear of water.
